Blackpoll Warbler
(Setophaga striata)

Picture

Very common spring migrant; absent in fall.

In Mammoth Cave N.P., check open woods and edges during early May.

Female Blackpolls resemble fall Bay-breasted Warblers, but Blackpolls should not be here in the fall. If you suspect a fall Blackpoll, check for leg color (yellow in Blackpolls, black in Bay-Breasted.)
