Wild Turkey
(Meleagris gallopavo)

Common year-round resident. Males are larger, with "beards." Strutting is encountered in spring and early summer.
 
Turkeys inhabit woods  and open fields.

Park birds are less evident during the height of nesting season, more regular at other times of year. Check the visitor center clearing and park roadsides.
