Brown Thrasher
(Toxostoma rufum)
A common summer bird in open country.
A few individuals overwinter; spring migrants return early to significantly increase numbers.
Best found in Mammoth Cave N.P. in the visitor center clearing and at the southern end of the bike trail. Best found in spring, when thrashers sing loudly from high perches.
