Chimney Swift
(Chaetura pelagica)

Common in our area during breeding season, mostly in urban areas and neighborhoods.

Swifts fly almost constantly, except when vertically clinging to walls and chimneys.

Found in the park by listening for their overhead chattering calls; frequently found near the Mammoth Cave Ferry and around the visitor center clearing.
