Green Heron
(Butorides virescens)

This small heron is found during breeding season on local lakes, ponds, and rivers.

​Found in Mammoth Cave N.P. in appropriate habitat. They are occasionally seen at Sloan's Crossing Pond and on the Green River. 

Green herons breed at First Creek Lake.
