Common year-round species in our area, preferring weedy fields and river bottoms.

Drab winter plumage makes it easy to overlook.

At Mammoth Cave NP, check the sycamore trees on the restaurant side of the visitor center, or any weedy roadside patches. ​Also, check the lower end of the bike trail, near Diamond Caverns.
