Northern Flicker

​Common year-round woodpeckers.

Flickers are often found feeding on open lawns; they also occupy open woods.

At Mammoth Cave N.P., flickers are usually easy to find on the visitor center clearing lawns and on most trails. Learning their calls helps in locating them.
