Great Egret
(Ardea alba)

​The only common egret in central Kentucky. Range map is incorrect: numerous Great Egrets summer and breed in Kentucky and states north.

Found in local wetlands and on local ponds and rivers.

Not found in Mammoth Cave N.P., except for the occasional flyover.
