Mourning Dove
(Zenaida macroura)

​​A common year-round resident in our area.

Our only native dove. Identified by its tapered, pointed tail and mournful call.

Frequently found in the visitor center clearing at Mammoth Cave N.P., especially in the large cedar trees near the locomotive.
