Swainson's Thrush
(Catharus ustulatus)
A common spring and fall migrant in our area.
This woodland species has no reddish color on the back or tail. It's prominent buffy spectacles and upper chest differentiates this species from the the less common Gray-cheeked Thrush.
Easily found in the park on wooded roads and trails in May and September. The gravel road on the northern end of the Maple Springs loop is frequently crowded with thrushes during migration.
